Nine Frame Analysis

In order to learn the common conventions of a cyberpunk film, and gain some inspiration, I decided to do a nine frame analysis of famous science fiction's. I chose 'Back to the Future' and the more modern: 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

Back to the Future

In this one, I really like how it sets up the story by using various news articles. For example in frame 4 there is a newspaper, and in frame 5 we start to see a news report which gives the audience immediate context.

Another convention that they use is opening credits. I really like the simple font in Back to The Future and will refer back to them when creating my opening credits.

Overall, I also noticed that there are lots of blues, reds and dark colours which present it as a sci-fi. I will keep this in mind when creating my film.

Guardians of the Galaxy

The Guardians of the Galaxy nine frame analysis presents a very clear colour grade and style. We can see the clear yellow font and blue hues dominating the frames. I really like how they have a clear aesthetic and it definitely presents it as a recognisable sci-fi. I will try to keep this in mind when creating my film.

Furthermore, there is also an abundance of technology and blue lights, I might reflect this when creating my CGI effects therefore.
